The Lord's Prayer - South America
David Norman (Catholic), Brasilia / Federal District / Brazil - Director
When you pray the Lord’s Prayer:
Privately in times of need or times when I need support.
What appeals to you about this prayer? What do you like about it?
The Lord's Prayer doesn't need me to think of what I need to say or ask, it's all there and I don't need to add or subtract anything!
Are there any words, phrases or ‘ideas’ within the prayer that have particular significance to you?
The word "Father", of course living overseas makes me miss my family and knowing that I always have the heavenly father with me gives me comfort.
The prayer asks God for things that we need, for example that the kingdom might come and that we might be forgiven. Of the things the Lord’s Prayer asks for which one do you think the world needs most at this time?
I couldn't say, it could be a bit of everything!
Do you pray the Lord's Prayer in another language?
I pray the prayer in English, its my native language and I think it comforts me more to pray in my mother language, takes me back to my childhood!
