Framework coding

In order to identify pieces of information within the framework, a framework code such as
A1-1.1 is used.

The framework code helps to identify the following:
  • The liturgical year (which will be A, B or C)
  • The framework within the liturgical year (which will be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6)
  • The 'block' within the framework (which will be 1 or 2)
  • The key information number within that block's sequence (which will be a number from 1)

Liturgical year:
  • Year A - Matthew
  • Year B - Mark
  • Year C - Luke

From Advent 2012 to before Advent 2013, we are in Year C (Luke).
Year A (Matthew) begins at Advent 2013 and ends in the period immediately before Advent 2014.

Framework number within the liturgical year:
  • Framework number 6 - Autumn Term, First Half
  • Framework number 1 - Autumn Term, Second Half
  • Framework number 2 - Spring Term, First Half
  • Framework number 3 - Spring Term, Second Half
  • Framework number 4 - Summer Term, First Half
  • Framework number 5 - Summer Term, Second Half
Because the liturgical year begins at Advent, the first framework 'period' of the liturgical year is the second half of the Autumn term.

'Blocks' within the framework:
  • Block 1 - which covers Attainment Target levels 1 to 3
  • Block 2 - which covers Attainment Target levels 3 to 5

The number within a block:
  • Number 1 - first piece of key information within block 1
  • Number 2 - second piece of key information within block 1
  • Number 3 - third piece of key information within block 1

Therefore, the framework code A1-1.1 means:
  • Year A (Matthew)
  • Framework number 1 (second half of Autumn Term)
  • Block 1 (which covers AT levels 1 to 3)
  • Number 1 (the first piece of key information within the block - block 1)

The framework code C6-2.4 means:
  • Year C (Luke)
  • Framework number 6 (first half of Autumn Term)
  • Block 2 (which covers AT levels 3 to 5)
  • Number 4 (the fourth piece of key information within the block - block 2)
